Dr. Liora Hendelman-Baavur

Dr. Liora Hendelman-Baavur is a scholar of modern Iran. She is the director of the Alliance Center for Iranian Studies (ACIS) and lecturer at the Department for Middle Eastern and African History, both at Tel Aviv University. Her book Creating the Modern Iranian Woman: Popular Culture between Two Revolutions was published by Cambridge University Press in 2019. Dr. Hendelman-Baavur is co-editor, with Professor David Menashri, of the volume Iran Anatomy of Revolution and editor of the collection of essays Iran Than and Now: Society, Politics and Religion, both published in Hebrew by Hakibutz Hameuchad. She is also the editor of the journal ACIS Iran Pulse: Insights on Iranian Affairs. Her field of interests includes Iranian modern history and politics, popular culture, gender and women studies, and cultural aspects of immigration.
