Entertainment on Campus

TAU believes in making its campus a central venue for both rigorous academic research and a multitude of cultural and social events. As a result the campus is the site of music concerts, film screenings, art exhibitions, poetry readings and many other types of activities available to TAU students and staff and often open to the general public.

The roster of cultural and social events on the TAU campus is fluid and dynamic, ever - changing to reflect the interests and initiatives of the TAU student body and staff. Below are some highlights:

Campus Thursdays

As Thursday is the last day of the Israeli work week, TAU encourages its students and staff to start their weekend off with a host of exciting events: gallery exhibits, film screenings, musical performances and lectures on a variety of academic fields. Young artists are invited to showcase their work and the public is invited to share in all these activities, which take place from early afternoon until late evening. You can check which events take place in English at the Thursdays of Campus website.

Film Festivals and Screenings

Every two years The Tel Aviv International Student Film Festival, the largest student film festival in the world, takes place in Tel Aviv, organized from start to finish by TAU students and staff. Renowned actors, directors and cinematographers arrive to give lectures and master classes. Hundreds of student films from all over the world are screened for festival goers.

Showcasing Student Creativity

TAU encourages performance and creation as part of students' involvement in the world of academia. The Department of Theater Arts and the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music put on performances jointly as well as separately, allowing students to showcase their creativity and hard work during the year and exposing the rest of the TAU community as well as the public at large to their achievements.

Rock Music on Campus

Every Wednesday the largest outdoor venue on campus (the lawn in front of the Gilman building) comes alive with the sound of rock music! No need to buy tickets – students and staff can  enjoy the performances by Israel's leading young artists for free. Lunch al fresco on the grass is particularly recommended.
